I recently treated myself to the Stanley Kubrick Box Set. The first title I watched from the set was Lolita. The only knowledge I had of this film was that it caused some controversy at the time of its creation, and that this controversy was created from the love of an older man for a young girl. I understand that this film was released in the 60′s, but there is no way people watching it could have thought that Sue Lyon was a very young girl. She was 16 when she starred in this movie but she looks much more mature. This was probably some very shrewd casting by Kubrick. Lyon and Sellers are both superb. Sellers portrayal of the crazy playwright Quilty in particular.
On a lighter note, having a summer camp for girls named ‘Camp Climax’ was sublime.
